Timothy is an international capital markets lawyer, having worked at some of the world’s most prestigious law firms, including A&O Sherman and DLA Piper. He received an LL.M (Master of Laws) degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and is qualified as an advocate in India and as a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. In 2020, he was one of 11 leaders from around the world selected for the prestigious Obama Scholar Program at Columbia University. He is a cancer survivor who loves playing tennis and from time to time gigging as a vocalist in a rock band.
Advised issuers, selling shareholders, underwriters and financial institutions on a wide range of domestic and cross-border capital markets transactions, including initial public offerings, follow-on public offerings, qualified institutional placements, rights issues, convertible bonds, high-yield bonds, masala bonds and global depository receipts. Experience includes several of the largest and most significant transactions in the Indian market, notably the US$2.5 billion follow-on public offering of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation by the Government of India, the US$400 million follow-on offering by Cosco Capital, and other large multi-jurisdictional equity offerings involving Rule 144A and Regulation S structures.
Advised leading global and domestic investment banks on marquee equity and debt capital markets transactions, including the US$175 million IPO of A2Z Maintenance Services with concurrent Rule 144A and Regulation S offerings, the US$250 million and US$140 million international offerings by Punj Lloyd, the US$300 million and US$200 million high-yield bond offerings by Rolta India, the US$250 million convertible bond offering by Adani Enterprises, and the HK$4 billion share placement by Sinopharm. Sovereign and quasi-sovereign work includes advising the Republic of Indonesia on its US$4 billion global medium-term note programme and subsequent US$3 billion bond issuances, as well as the establishment of a €3 billion EMTN programme for Wesfarmers Limited. Also advised on significant strategic stake sales, including the US$250 million block trade sale by British Telecom of its stake in Tech Mahindra.
